You see there's a 1gb ram memory module that I'm wanting to get from newegg. I'm just wanting to know if my computer would be able to take that. It's got a 2.66ghz pentium 4 processor that I put in it myself.

Your older Dell requires older RAM as well. DDR PC 2700 will be the fastest it can run.

You also need to watch the maximum amount of RAM you buy as well. It is likely this machine will only hold 2 GIGS max, possibly as little as 1 gig.

You will not see a huge performance boost on your applications unless you can increase the RAM a significant amount (say, 512 megs to 2 gigs) So, check on your board specs from Dell and see what the maximum allowed ram is before purchasing. Here is a very affordable site for purchasing RAM:

Your pc can look after 2 GB of RAM. So, you could upload yet another a million GB stick in there. the reason your pc says you have extra RAM than what you comprehend of, is by way of the fact your pc turns sections of your complicatedcontinual into RAM too. that is pronounced as Paging documents on your complicatedcontinual. once you install your different RAM module into your pc, you may turn your Paging documents off. it's going to make some purposes swifter.

The above answers are correct that this memory will not work for you. Your Dell Dimension 2400 has 2 slots & 2GB max. You can find the memory you need here:

Hope this helps.
