I have an old Dell computer that runs on Windows XP. I tried to play my Sims 3 game but it told me I had to update my video card. I follow instruction from someone else and they had me delete my currect graphics drive and gave me links to download a new one but it still didn't work. the doanloads just said "OS type not included in the install". Its original video card was intell extreme graphics 2.

It seems to me the system requirements for the Sims 3 is a bit beyond your graphics capability. The specs listed here:

You will need a better video chip than the integrated one you are trying to use. As to which to get, it all depends on what else you have in your box.

Good luck.

Why is it that people who know absolutely nothing about computers have an appetite for destruction and keep messing around with stuff they know nothing about???

First of all, Intel Extreme graphics 2 is very old, last update was issued in 2003 (10 years ago). It was used in Windows 98 and maybe Windows XP pre SP1 computers.

So you want to play a new game on a 10 years old dinosaur computer??? Good luck with that...

Intel Extreme graphics is low end onboard graphics, not a graphics card.

You have to physically install a dedicated graphics card (if this is a desktop computer). No upgrade is possible for a laptop.

Never install or update hardware drivers if they are not from either Windows update or the original hardware manufacturer.

The Extreme Graphics 2 final XP driver is dated Feb, 2006, not 2003 as doruletz1999 stated, and can be acquired from

If the driver will not install, then you've probably misidentified the graphics device.  Click Start and Run, then type CMD and click OK to open a command prompt.  Type these commands, pressing Enter at the end of each line.

    Set DevMgr_Show_Details=1

    DevMgmt.msc

Click OK if you get a "security privileges" alert.

The graphics adapter will be listed either under Display Adapters or Unknown Devices.  Double-click the device, then click the Details tab.  Select Hardware IDs from the droplist.  In the textbox, click the top line to select it.  While pressing a Control key, tap the C key to copy the line (there is no "right-click & copy").

Paste the information into your original question.  Do not reply directly to any response or mark any answer as "best" until this is resolved; doing so will make it impossible to reply further to your question.
