My husband bought the acer desktop way cheap (Acer Aspire Revo AR1600-U910H Mini Desktop PC - Intel ATOM N230 1.6GHz, 1GB DDR2, 160GB HDD, HDMI, Windows XP Home). Now that we have it and it is really slow, I would like to upgrade the processor. Would any one know what would be the best upgrade for this? or HOw will I find out whether I will be able to upgrade this with Intel Core 2 quad processor? or later generations? Please help

you cant, there different chipsets for one thing, but atom processors are soldered on the motherboard. not to mention, your computer would burn to pices becasue the fans on the computer are built for the very cool atom, not the hot core 2 duo. (and it wouldn't fit in the case)

center 2 Duo has 2 cores center 2 Quad has 4 cores center 2 severe has both 2 or 4 cores. when you're using it for gaming then perchance the E8400 ( center 2 Duo ) is solid for you and it truly is a superior overclocker. in case you're also using it for video enhancing and photo enhancing ( which includes Photoshop or aspects ) then the Q6600 ( center 2 Quad ) is suitable for you . i imagine that the Q6600 is a superior decision because it truly is basically somewhat severe priced than E8400 and a large overclocker.

No. That desktop fits into the "nettop" class of PCs. Most, if not all of their parts are soldered directly to the motherboard, and as such, are not replaceable.
