Could someone explain what a flash drive is?

A portable sturdy device you plug into a USB port (about 2-3 inches in length) thats holds information.



Usually Windows will recognize the device as a seperate drive, accessed through MyComputer and you can copy files to it like you would any other folders.



They usually come in space sizes of 256 MB, 512 MB or 1 GB nowadays, but even the 256 MB holds over 50 times the space of a 3.25" floppy disk.



Well worth it if you have more than a few documents and pictures you're afriad to lose and need a cheap backup or if you're trying to move document/music files from one computer to another.

a flash drive is a portable hard drive generally of a small capacity when compared to a hard drive that can be connected to a computer using a USB port and can be used for data transfer from 1 machine to another.
