I want to add ATI Radeon x1900 xt to my DELL Inspiron 530( 2.2ghz dual core, 300w power, 2GB ram)
I have no CDs or manuals, i bought it of ebay, i placed the card in the tower(power off) and when i started the comp, everything powered on and fan started up, then message came up saing that my monitor is plugged in into a inter graded video and that i need it to plug the monitor into a add on card and restart the comp. I did that and when it starts again it powers on, but then stops as if on stand by and beeps. When i connected it back to onboard video it started normaly. In the "Device manager" it only shows my on board but not my add on card, it looks as if its not recognized by the PC. Could this be that i am low on power, but graphic card stars fine only when i connect a monitor to it then the comp will not start and as i said before it beeps. Please help any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

hey,

you already did the hardest thing that was physically installing the card into the pc.

what you need to do now is enter the computer BIOS and set the first display device to your video card - i assume it's PCI Express ( or AGP if it's an AGP card ) set the 2nd display device to onboard.

to enter the BIOS press the power button and immediately press the f2 key when you see the dell logo.

using the arrow keys navigate to the option you want change it press f10 to save select yes...the pc will reboot- hold down the power button till it turns off and connect the monitor to your video card and power the system up.

you will have to connect the monitor to the onboard video card enter the bios make the changes save it. shut down connect the monitor to the video card and power up.

everything should be fine now. dont forget drivers.

you can get the latest drivers here

www.ati.com

also if the above doesnt work for you, those beep codes may be getting that's telling you the card may be faulty.

hope this helps
