I have a Combo player (CD read-write, DVD read) in the computer. I need a DVD player for my television. So my question is can I remove the combo player from my PC and use it with my TV, and buy a DVD writer for my computer.

its true the device is similar however it uses a different format than DVD players, you'll never find drivers or the skill to build such a device, so no..no your most definitely not doing that anytime soon. However i'm sure you could google OTHER people that have done it. DVD players are cheap as spit anyway, so who cares...btw i most definitely recommend a DVD burner for your rig, they are WAY more useful for data transfer, but don't expect to be burning DVDs playable in your brand new player which your about to buy yourself. Sorry to crush your DIY spirit.

If you have the original video footage from before you burnt it, you could try using that for editing. Alternatively, you could download a media format conversion program and convert the video into a different format, so it will work with Movie Maker. You could try Media Coder, which does a lot of different formats but can be a bit confusing if you don't have a good overview understanding of the mechanics of video formats. Windows Movie Maker should accept a WMV (Windows Media Video) file, or an AVI file of some description. Alternatively, you could use a different video editor. I assume that since you are using Movie Maker, you are using Windows. I can't recommend anything in particular for Windows. Obviously you can't change what's already on the DVD+R, because it's a write-once disc.

Not possible for now, maybe in the the future. You will have to buy the player for your TV and a writer for your PC

Hi
you can't remove your DVD player from your computer, but you might be able to connect your computer to your TV and play any media files or DVD's from your computer onto your TV, depending on your computer and tv input/outputs.
