Hi..

I'm just wondering if it's possible to use a USB flash drive in a windows 98 system without its driver Cd..

The reason why I'm asking this is because in our school, the, Cd drive is not powered and not connected through the IDE..
so there's no way to use my CD driver installer..

Is it possible to make my USB drive bootable or something like, when I plug it in the USB port while im in the win98 it will automatically install its driver?Thanks!!

http://www.technical-assistance.co.uk/kb/usbmsd98.php has the drivers you need. Put them on a floppy or download them from school.

Hi dear;

Well its not possible to use USB without installing driver for it in windows 98 because windows 98 is not fully plug n play operating system.You have 2 options left either copy its driver setup on a floppy which i think coudnt be done because floppy cannot store huge data or you should download it from intertnet which i think can not be done in a school environment.But there is another option also which is that take a CD ROM with your self at school and connect it using IDE to USB cable(this cable directly connects your IDE drives with usb port) and copy the driver setup in your pc....But be aware of your teacher hahahahaha

Never mind, what USB flash drive you use (company). Just go to the companies website and download the driver for windows 98 for your flash drive and install it. Then your flash drive will be detected or search for the driver in google because it will be the same for all USB device. This is same for the ext disk too. Gud luck.
