Normally you put the disc you play sims with in your computer. But the mini laptop is too small for that so you need to get an external DVD drive. Which is a box where you can put your sims CD in (The box looks like a tiny DVD player, but without all the buttons) and then you connect it to your mini laptop with a lead.

your mini laptop does not contain a CD or DVD drive as there is insufficient space to put it inside (internal) the casing. So to be able to play CDs or DVDs you will need a drive that connects to your mini laptop (external) via the USB port.

You often need an external power supply to run these but you can get some that have dual USB ports and will run from the power supplied by the laptop, either on battery power or mains. I would suggest if you are going to use your laptop as a more mobile device as opposed to just on your desk and rarely moved that you buy one that has a mains power adapter, if using the laptop to go from home to work or school, friends etc. on a regular basis then get the one with the USB powered option.

You can buy these from online retailers, the local PC repair shop or the larger electrical stores that sell computer items (if in the UK places like PC World and Staples).

CD/DVD-drives are usually built into stationary computers for playing CD's or DVD's. Since Sims 3 (?)is a DVD disc, you need a DVD-player. Laptops sometimes lack these, and therefore you have to use an external drive. You just hook it up to your laptop in your USB port or something similiar. Get it at your nearest computer shop.

No netbooks or minis come with a built in CD/DVD drive so you have to use an external drive that plugs into a usb port, get one from your local store or off the internet

In my opinion the best software to burn CDs/DVDs is Ashampoo Burning. It's a free software and it can be downloaded here: http://bitly.com/1lAVuA9

If you want to make a DVD that will work on a common DVD player, you definitely need a burning software. Copying the movie as is directly to a new DVD it's not the right way to do it (If you do so your DVD player will not be able to play the video/movie properly).

The most reliable DVD burning program I used it Ashampoo Burning. It works with all types of videos and music (both with DVDs and CDs). Ashampoo is a very modern and professional software (you can also edit videos and create DVD menus)

They are normally easy to install with no hassle. Most of the time it's just a USB cable involved.
