Question:
How to fix a USB unknown device on device manager?

I bought a USB logitech adapter for headphones a couple months ago as my audio jack is busted and I broke the last USB headset I had accidentally. I hoped this would solve my problem of how easily I break headphones. I've taken good care of it to the best of my ability. The plug-in headphones to the adapter still work fine after testing it by plugging them into my phone. There is no marks or tears for what I can see on the outside of my adapter or near any connections, it looks practically perfect.

Although when I plug it into my USB my computer says it doesn't recognise the USB. I've checked device manager and it's listed an unknown device. I have tried every USB port (even plugging it in at different angles which worked for a little while but not at all now), restarting my computer, troubleshooting the device, scanning for drivers, uninstalling it and reinstalling it and disabling and re-enabling.

Is there anything else I can try to fix it or is there something faulty in it meaning I need to buy a new one? I hope not because I can't really afford to be paying out for these little things haha. I have a Windows 8 computer.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Install the driver that came with it.

Telling us what model you have bought could be a help.

The only logitech adapter for this I know of is Pug and Play ie installs itself.

If not it should have a setup disc. If not then return it for another one after trying it in another computer

This is BOSS. http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html

it will find everything and bring it up and you can fix a lot of problems with this. As a person who has 10 android devices at one time usually thats a lot of driver issues.

You need a driver, go to the logitechs website and find drivers for that product.

As already said - try plugging it into another computer

If you have one try plugging it into USB hub that has its own power supply.

(its possible your pc aint suppying enough power for the usb to audio converter inside the headphones to work.)

If you aint got one try borrowing one from a friend

It needs a driver, try looking on the website of the headphone manufacturer.

If it was working and now it isn't it probably is faulty. Test it on another computer
