Question:
i have no memory..i can't do anything?
2009-04-05 20:48:38 UTC
i can't even go on pictures because it says
'this picture cannot be displayed. you might not have enough memory available. close some programs, or your hard disk is almost full, free some disk space and try again'
i;ve tried, many times to uninstall unnecessary things and basically have uninstalled most of the unnecessary and now apparentley i don't even have enough hard disk/memory to even do that..so what am supposed to do now..
i have deleted films/ music that i don't want that much but it was still awful to delete it, since it took so long to download it in the first place..and it didn't even make a difference to the problem
and don't bother telling me to empty the recycle bin or other retard things..like i never do that or something

Buy a new harddrive and more RAM. I used to see the "..not have enough memory..." message on my old xp desktop with 512 mb of RAM so I upgraded it to 2 GB and never saw the message again.

How old is your computer? If your running a really old computer it may be more cost-effective to purchase a new computer.

If you don't want to do either things then defrag, clear caches, empty bin, delete unnecessary files and programs.

most probably the system means that you do not have enough RAM.

RAM is different from the harddrive memory, so uninstalling files will not help. uninstalling files will only free some hardrive memory, but not RAM.

stop some applications from running. RAM is used to run applications. example, you have 2 gigs of ram, that means ur computer can only process 2 gigs of information at a time. by running too many applications, you use too much RAM.

anyway, if you are not running any program but u still have insufficient RAM, then is usggest scanning for viruses.

ive heard of viruses that discretely runs, taking RAM space.

and also, one way to fix that is to get more RAM.

get a virtual RAM (pagefile).

start> control panel> system information (a new window will appear)

on one of the tabs, select performance then look for pagefile. i think there is an option that lets you change the size of the pagefile

It's time to back up your files. Either get an online storage service or get a whole lot of cds and download all your stuff on them. After doing one of the two (or both if you want) clear everything you stored off your cpu. Then go to My Computer, right click it and then go to properties. Go to the advanced tab and then press the settings button next to where it says Performance: visual memory, etc. Then press the advanced tab you see in the new window. Where it says virtual memory, press the button that says change. Then just set your virtual memory to a higher number (you can't go over 3000) then press ok and then apply. You may need to restart your system after that. That should do the trick.

buy more ram and install it and get a bigger harddrive or an external harddrive to store your stuff

hun don't call someone a loser on the site. Even though they called you it first you can still get reported and the question deleted. :( it happened to me earlier..

Go out to your local computer supply store such as Wal-Mart or OfficeMax and pick up anywhere from 1GB to 3GB of RAM, or Random Access Memory. When your computer says its running low on memory, it means your running low on RAM.

Have you tried to restart it? Sometimes the ram gets bogged up if you use it for too long without restarting it.
