So I have to reinstall windows and I have everything I need saved in a folder on my desktop.
I insert the thumb drive into my usb port on the front of my tower. I open "my computer", I open the thumb drive and then I drag the folder into the box.

The files start to copy over. But then randomly, it stops and I get a message that says "Cannot copy "file name". The reqest could not be performed because of an I/O error."
And its always a random small file like a picture (and I have tons of those!!)
So I go in an delete the picture that it had a problem with and then attempt to copy the files again.
and then it repeats the same action again with another random picture!

I have tried using my brother's 8gig drive as well as my brand new, never used, 2gig drive. It keeps doing the same thing! Its a random picture every time.
Earier it got over halfway done and then the error message popped up again with another random file that it could't copy. & I have to start over every time this happens.
Am I doing something wrong? and what is an "I/O error"?
Thank you for reading! :)

Try renaming the files. If they have really long or strange names, they could be causing trouble. Also, make sure they are not read only (highlight them, right click and go to properties".

if you are copying a lot of files all at once thatt could be causeing the thumb drive to be erroring. try breaking it down into smaller files and copying them one at a time. (files of around 500MB at a time or so)

hopefully this helps
