i did some research and it mostly like is said to be ATI.
i have a windows xp media center edition 2005 and it uses radeon xpress 200.
so every time my computer starts this message pops up:

CLI. exe - Common Language Runtime Debugging services
Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.
Process id=0x15c8 (5576), Thread id=0x1324 (4900).
Click OK to terminate the application.
Click CANCEL to debug the application.

i click cancel and then retry but it still doesn't work..it basically says the debugger was not found.
then i click retry and it disappears but that doesn't fix the problem.

so what i did was i went to "Add or Remove Programs" on "Control Panel".
i click on the ATI program & click on "Click here for more information" & there's a box that says "If this program is not working properly you may reinstall it by clicking Repair."
so i do but most of the time i start the computer, the same massage will pop up again.

i notice that around the time this problem occurred Windows media player would not work properly. it would say that it encountered a problem and it needs to close. all these problems started after i installed and uninstalled Windows Media Player 11 and it automatically went back to Player 10.
& sometimes when i open windows, the content will not show so i have to close and open sometimes a few times. i don't know if this has to do with any of the problems but it happened at the time or around that time.

1. What can i do about it?
2. do i REALLY need ATI on my computer?
3. could it be affecting other programs?
4. should i call my computer technician instead or can i fix the problem?

Step 1: Remove the ATI software suite completely using control panel

Step 2: Restart the computer

Step 3: download new drivers for the xpress 200

http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Legacy/Pages/integrated_mce-xp.aspx?type=2.7&product=2.7.5.3.4.3.1&lang=English

Step 4: install new drivers

Step 5: Restart

Yes, you need ATi software otherwise you'll go nuts with trails from the MS drivers. If this is a laptop, you need the xpress 200M drivers.

1. Go To The ATI Website and download a new Driver version if they have it out

2. yes because it the driver for the GPU (Graphic Card) Required

3. Well The Windows Driver will handle the standard display option but its best to install the driver for the Graphic Card (Don't Repair The Driver Just Completely Uninstall it and Get The New Version or reinstall the old one if you still have the cd for it)

4. Calling or taking it to a Technician would be the best choice but its going to cost money.

Window Media Player is one of worst players to use best thing to do is just leave it alone and use a different media player

i recommend VLC player it plays all music and movie formats

Hope This Helps

ATI Catalystâ„¢ releases made available past the ATI Catalystâ„¢ 9.3 release will not include support for the ATI Radeon Xpress Series legacy product or any of the features associated with that legacy product.
