There are two ways to disable it. First way is just removing it. Second way is to uninstall it then will not work unless you install it. If you just want to remove it, just click on the USB icon on your task bar then click "Remove..." Or if you want to disable it completely go to "My Computer" right click on a blank space, click Properties and then Hardware. And then click device manager. Then you'll find many hardware items that can be disabled. Be careful though.

I know how hard it is to keep a PC safe from viruses and trojans as nearly every USB stick carries some undetectable and auto-multiplying virus. Especially in university, where I have to constantly exchange USB sticks, it becomes hard to keep my USB stick safe and clean.

Mostly the viruses that multiply through USB sticks use the autorun function of USB as it does not require any user confirmation and runs secretly in the background, unlike a CD or DVD.

The best way to keep USB viruses from injecting themselves to your PC or laptop is to Disable the USB Autorun feature and I will teach you how to do it.

1. Click the Start button, then Run and enter “gpedit.msc” without the quotes

2. Go to Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System

3. Scroll down to “Turn off Autoplay” and double click on it

4. Click on the “Enabled” radio button, then for “Turn off Autoplay on” select “All drives”

right click My Computer select Manage, the computer management window will appear, select device manager then click on Universal Serial Bus controllers, all you need to do is right click then Disable all the usb controllers so than whenever they plug a usb device, windows will not detect it. just a warning though, all of the usb ports will be disabled including the ports on the motherboard

Can't you just disable it's power in the BIOS?
