I just bought a new laptop. It's an Asus Netbook. Only problem is, i don't have a cd player. I was looking online for one but a lot of reviews say that a lot aren't compatible with windows 8. Does anyone know of one that is compatible? Please let me know! Idk how ill be able to install my antivirus stuff.

There is no reason why a cd drive compatible with windows 7 wouldn't be compatible with windows 8. I have an external samsung slim dvd/cd drive that I use with mac and windows. No reason it shouldnt work with 8.

If you are using this to install antivirus stuff, save yourself some time and money, and dont. Download avg antivirus for free.

As long as you have a usb port available, you should be able to use any external CD/DVD drive. The Windows 8 operating system shouldn't make any difference. If Vista and 7 will support any external usb CD/DVD drive, then Windows 8 surely should. The box/specs of the external CD/DVD drive will usually tell which operating systems it's compatible with. Why any company would manufacturer an external device not compatible with Windows XP through Windows 8, plus the Apple computers, would be a surprise to most everyone.
