Can I install Linux onto a portable hard drive and use it on multiple systems? I would probably use Ubuntu, but I may use another distro.

Hello!

Yes you can, what you must do is install it on your portable HD then when you want to run Linux on your computer, plug it in at startup and it should ask you if you want to run it.

Hope this helps

You won't be able to install it and use it on multiple systems unless the systems have the same hardware configurations.

You could set up the portable HD as a live distribution (one that doesn't install and discovers the hardware during startup), The process should be similar to setting up a live CD or DVD.

See Knoppix, or Ubuntu's live DVD or any other distribution's site for details.

unsure what you're asking *precisely* yet setting up to an eternal tension is completely supported by skill of linux. in case you're asking a thank you to get it there as you in basic terms have a million exterior tension, you are able to continuously use unetbootin to place in the ISO to a flash tension.
