I want to copy an ISO image (4.37gb) to my USB stick (8gb capacity).
However, when I try, it says I can't because the stick is already full. There's nothing on it though!
Nothing, which has left me puzzled. Help please!!

If your USB stick is formatted in FAT32, then the largest file size allowed on the stick is about 2 GB. You'll need to either break up the ISO into three files, or you need to reformat your USB stick to NTFS in order to copy the entire ISO file over to the USB stick.

You should be able to copy your ISO to that USB. Sometimes windows has hidden files that even if they are not shown will use some storage space. You can try to right click you USB stick and then choose properties and then Disk Cleanup to see if that helps. If not (and there is nothing else that you want to keep on the stick) you can format it to get a clean stick with all the 8GB space available - right click the stick in explorer, choose format and format the stick with NTFS.

It sounds like a USB stick problem, not a file transferring problem.

Flash drives use a similar type of storage technology as solid state drives do, which means they are subject to wear over time. The transistors that store the information will basically break after a while, so the capacity of the drive decreases.

If it's older, chances are that's the problem. Especially since older flash memory degraded a lot faster than new flash memory.

If you are just trying to simply copy this file to the usb stick, then the stick is damaged, a fake, or the usb port is not eworking properly (try one on the back of the pc).

If you are trying to copy the iso as an image file then you need a utility to do this.
