I own two gaming pcs...
The system specs of one is:-

2GB DDR2 RAM
Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor
180G HD
and Nvidia 8400GS 512 OC'ed to the performance of a 9800GT

and the specs of the 2nd one is:-

Intel i7 Processor
6GB DDR2 RAM
1TB HD
and Nvidia GTX 480 1GB

I am planning to buy a graphic card for the first pc..as it have a low end GPU..

I am a gamer so i will be gaming insanely long time..like 9 or 8 Hours..So my view of point between an ati and a nVidia is..:-

Ati doesn't support all games..as it needs hot fixes or special patches to make them work..
where as nvidia supports all...i mean all games works on nVidia...it just need a driver update..

but ati is way better in performance and detailing...but nVidia is not up to the mark...

in Power Usage...GTX 480 is damn Voltage USER...where as ATI 5970 is UP TO the mark..

And in Technology i like nVidia..because..
1) PhysX...nVidia Introduced it
2)3D Vision...(I LOVE IT)

so i reccommend my self a GTX 480..But whats your recommendation...and why..
thnx

but in ATI-
EYE INFINITY (SUCKS)

to label a whole line of cards better then another in one way or another is stupid, you find what you need for a computer and look at both lines. every ATI is not gonna have issues with certain games. theres not point in having the latest ATI or NVIDIA in the older PC, and you have no reason to upgrade the new one, why are you asking this? just go to newegg, look at what kind of specs you will be able to do with the old one, and find the most reliable/cheapest card that is a tiny bit above what you need. its not gonna be ATI or NVIDIA every time.

I use nothing but ATI and I've never had to patch anything. nVidia has been bad to me for years and I'll never use that chipmaker again.
