u need a Ethernet card or wireless adaptor to connect computers together. U can either have a cross-cable (for 2 computers) or a Router, or a Switch to connect computers together.
in olden days we could connect computers through Serial ports.
USB port is not a Network Device, Hence you can't use it to connect PCs.

I get a wireless signel in my house from a Lynksys unsecured network but could only connect if my laptop was out the window or outside due to the heavy amounts of led in my walls so i bought a Lynksys N USB adapter and stuck it out my windo and had to hook up 2 15 ft USB cables together i got around the power problem with a small USB hub at the end of my laptops USB that had a small hole for like an AC power plug so what i guess happend since the hub didnt have enough juice to power the device over 30 ft of usb the little hub with the AC power supply pluged in gave it the extra juice and all works fine....

No. This would just give you access to the files on the other computer's disk. If you set things up to allow it, you could indeed move files from one to the other. But that's all.
You need a special USB cable, if that's what you want to use.
Do you currently have broadband internet access and a router? If your router allows you to plug more than one computer into it (mine allows for 4), you can tell your router to allow mutual access from one computer to the other. This is the simplest way to share file access.

C- is right- look for a cross-over network cable or a router.
This will not improve performance on your computers, though. It will only allow you to share files.
