how do i remove the write protected on my SD memory card?

I have a sd memory card and everytime i try to use it in my camera it says write protected. i checked the tab on the side and it is on unlocked so that is not my problem. my memory card can be formatted on my computer but everytime i try to stick it in my camera it says write protected. so my question is how do i remove the write protected?

p.s. the lock is not my problem

You have to format it, to do this insert it into the computer...

Most likely the small tab inside has broken off and has left the card in write protect mode. I've it happen in a couple of jump drives that had clear cases where you could see the plastic had broken off.



Can you hear anything when you shake the card? If you do, most likely its a lost cause.

incorrect dudes! The Canon is write protecting the cardboard with some variety of characteristic, it has no longer something to do with the swap. I havnt found out a thank you to repair it yet however the swap isn't the challenge or answer

Try switching it to lock and then back to unlock, that just fixed it for me.
