Question:
Can I connect wireless audio devices (from laptop to hi-fi) without having an internet connection in my house?

I'm thinking of purchasing either SONOS 'bundle' or Logitech's Squeezebox to enable the wireless transfer of audio from my lap top's hard drive directly to my hi-fi system. I've been told that I should convert my mp3 files into either WAV. or FLAC. files to achieve much better audio quality.
Since the internet connection here is incredibly unreliable my question is whether this will affect the transfer of music using such equipment and/or whether an internet connection is needed in the first place.
Any help would be highly appreciated....

You can set up a wireless network between devices in your house. There is no need for the internet to be part of that network. It should work. You may need to manually assign things like ip addresses and such.

As for converting music to other formats. Wav and Flac files have better sound quality. But so do high bit rate mp3s. So it may not be worth the effort. In any case, you can't make your music sound better just by converting to another format. You can't make a song sound better than what you already have.

Yes, you can bring your laptop and wireless mouse to your friend's house and use it without reinstalling any driver/software.
