ideally you pick to have a balanced gadget, No evaluate getting a screaming speedy hexacore i7 in basic terms to saddle with an previous Geforce 2 MX PCI video card. Likewise or no longer it is folly to purchase a Radeon 6990 and in basic terms have a single center P4 pushing it. while you're on a funds i might decide for an Intel i3-2xxx Sandy Bridge twin center CPU and Radeon 5770/6770 or GeForce GTX 550 Ti video card. It should not be quickest think of on the block, regardless of the incontrovertible fact that it's going to run lots of the greater moderen video games accurately. I too am staggered at Dr Mrs Bears Face's wonderful demonstrate of incompetence.

hi walter

the GTX275 is still pretty powerful even in todays standards and will run the latest games at medium to high detail... however it draws alot of power and nvidia recommend a 550w(minimum ) and 30A on the +12v rail(s) .. you also need 2 x 6pin pci-e power connectors ..

ive checked your envy H8 specs at http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c03513449&lang=en&cc=us&taskId=135&contentType=SupportFAQ&prodSeriesId=5295996&prodTypeId=12454 and your current psu is only 460w .. this is well below the minimum of 550w required to run the GTX275,so you will need a better psu to use the GTX275

however for a more efficent card that will perform as well as the GTX275 but will use significantly less power i would recommend the "GIGABYTE WindForce GeForce GTX 650 OC 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card"( http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Graphics+Cards+-+GPUs/Graphics+Cards+-+NVIDIA/GeForce+GTX+650/GIGABYTE+WindForce+GeForce+GTX+650+OC+1024MB+GDDR5+PCI-Express+Graphics+Card+?productId=53308 ) .. this has a massive 1100mhz core clock and 1gb of gddr5 memory running at 5000mhz ddr effective .... theres also 384 shader processors ( cuda cores ) and a 128bit memory interface

in terms of performance this will work well with your core i7 and 10gb of ram and will run the latest games at high detail without any problems ... more demanding games such as battlefield 3 and metro 2033 may need to be tweaked to produce smoother performance however these games look good at medium detail

if your budget can stretch to around £160 then i highly recommend the "PALIT GeForce GTX 660 OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card "( http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/PALIT+GeForce+GTX+660+OC+2048MB+GDDR5+PCI-Express+Graphics+Card+?productId=52920 ) .. this card is extremely powerful and would work well with your current pc and its components ... your 460w psu is enough to power this card ( requires a 450w psu ( http://www.geforce.co.uk/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-660/specifications ) )

in summary if your looking at a sub £100 card then the GTX650 is your best choice ... however for good allround gaming performance the GTX660 would be a good choice and would pretty much allow you to max out all your games

i hope this helps walter ..any questions let me know

good luck mate !

The 275 is a great GPU but does not support DirectX 11 and 7570 isn't the most high-end GPU AMD makes. If you want to save some money and some power get a Radeon HD 7770, prices range from 109 to 150 dollars and I've been eyeing the 7770 by asus but don't want to spend all the money I got on a new graphics card right now. If you are personally afflicted to but NVIDIA then get GTX 660

The HD 7570 isn't exactly a high performance card. The GTX 275 kicks its butt in performance, but consumes over 3x the electricity. You might need some extra fans in that case of yours (it'll get hot), and maybe a better power supply, too. Also, the 7570 has a newer feature set (DirectX 11, OGL 4.1, OCL 1.2), so that's something to think about. Still, I think the GTX card is a much better option than what's in there now.

Hey,

Ollie Here

In a couple days www.pc-freak.co.uk/shop/index.php will have a full range of GPU's! (AMD and Nvidia)

I love PC-Freak they are so reliable and almost all products are next day delivery!

You can contact them and they will give you a response in 24 hours! They can recommend the best card for you! PS Try updating the drivers for the GPU, mine lagged until i updated the drivers!

Hope this helps

I recommend a GeForce GTX 600 series for today's games.

GTX275 was a very good card back in its day, now its old, outdated...

Radeon HD 7570 is a newer model, unfortunately it's also a low end, mid class at best.

Like others said, get one of the new GTX600 series, best value vs performance is GTX660 Ti ($280 - $300), best overall is GTX680 ($480 to $550). Cheapest and also good would be a GTX650 Ti ($130-$140). For both GTX650 and GTX660 get the Ti version, much better than the non-Ti for only about $20-$40 more. Best brands are EVGA, ZOTAC and MSI Frozr.

From the Radeon HD cards, at least an HD 7770 or 7850 would be good enough. Any of of the HD 7900 series are very good. Best brands are XFX and Sapphire.

Personally, I prefer nVidia GTX over Radeon HD, due to better specs and proprietary nVidia stuff like Physics, 3D, etc.

Out of the two cards in your question, GTX275 is slightly better.

HD 7570 has low 978 benchmark score:

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=Radeon+HD+7570&id=90

GTX275 has 1234 benchmark score, also low:

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+GTX+275&id=21

For good gaming performance, you would need a graphics card with an 1800 score or higher, like at least a GTX550 Ti, score of 1929:
