Question:
Do I have to format DVD+R before I durn /data/ to it? If not, is it better to format it?

I just got a new LG DVD recorder for my PC (internal). When I inserted my DVD+R media, Nero InCD automatically "opened" it to format it. Do I really have to format my DVD+R (or any DVD media for that matter) before I start burning data to it? I don't want to waste 4.7Gb of space, so to speak, and of course the money I paid for that. Thank you!! --Lorgen Shadoufang [DVD newbie]

Nope, you can only re-format DVD-RWs not DVD-R

just make sure there is nothing in the DVD-R but if there's something in it already then that isnt reusable

I am not sure of what you are asking, you may have to try it at the risk of losing a disk. It could be putting a little kickstart program on it or something. However, the reason I am replying is that your burning program will tell you what type of disk to put in.

When it says "insert blank disk" look carefully and it should tell you if its a +R or -R. Not many people realise this.

cheers.

Why do no longer you in basic terms do something which would be 2 steps yet finally extra suitable? attempt in basic terms a prevalent burner and get onto your workstation than use a loose application like media coder and convert the archives into the psp layout.
