[LINK TO BOARD] States can be maxed at 16GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813121389

{LINK TO BOARD} States that it can only be maxed at 8GB

IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO BOARDS AS TO WHY ONE SUPPORTS 16GB AND ONE SUPPORTS 8GB

its an intel motherboard so thats where you should look

i see that the ARCHIVE link you chose does say 8gb, but the link

on their main site definitely states 16gb

The cpu and mobo need to have the same socket number to work together. You won't notice any difference between 8GB and 16GB of ram. Too much ram is just wasted as the first 4 gigs do a lot but after that not so much. I went from 4 gigs to 12 gigs and the difference isn't noticeable.

I would trust the intel site since it is their MB. It appears the CPU would work.

See:

You might go here and ask the memory support question:

http://communities.intel.com/community/tech

I would look to see if there is a version and/or serial number you could include.
