My computer won't let me install anything.?

Question

I have tried and tried to install multiple programs onto my computer and I keep getting error message after error message. Some of them tell me my installer file is damaged and that I need to obtain a new installer file from the application author. I have idea what this means or how to fix it. could somebody help me?
