Is a USB sound card a plug-and-play device, or does it need any skill to install it?

If I buy a USB sound card, and plug it into my computer, will it automatically take over from the existing sound card, or would I have to disable the existing sound card to get the USB one to work? How would I disable the existing sound card, if that is neededdd?

to answer your question.. no, its not that simple. if i was sitting infront of your computer, and you gave me 10 mins with it, i could give you a theretical answer of yes or no, but really the best thing for you to do is find an independant shop, that will let u take it back if it doesnt work.

1st check too see what type of usb ports you have 1.1 or 2 powered or not - tell the guy at the shop what you have



1. install drivers from cd

2. plug in usb sound card



if it doesnt work 1st go, you need to find a computer tech..

1 right click on the "speaker icon" on the right lower add-bar.

2 start > control panel > sound n audio device > sound n audio device.

just remove the original sound card drivers*.. and use the usb one.... it should recognize it as soon as you plug it in.. if not, have disc ready.....* you disable the old drivers in control panel.. audio and speech devices...
