It would require you to run an operating system you would most likely have to write yourself and even then the applications would be for number crunching calculations and not typical multimedia application.

You might be able to use what they call a direct cable connection under some earlier releases of windows. A connection to the serial ports of both PC's. I have not tried to do it under XP. I should add that you will be able to share and transfer files but you cant add computing power.
