I'm building a gaming system and im trying to decide which component i should buy to use as a wifi adapter.

I'm deciding between a pci card: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0039GVOAM/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER

and a usb drive: http://www.amazon.com/Asus-USB-N13-ASUS-Wireless-N-Adapter/dp/B002UVNW5W/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1294713086&sr=1-1

On paper they both seem to offer the same performance, but im a bit skeptical about using a usb drive as a wifi adapter...

I want something that'll give me a good connection but will take the least amount of room.
The USB drive will be perfect because i have this internal usb adapter that is connected directly to the PSU, not the moboard: http://www.amazon.com/NZXT-IU01-Internal-Expansion-Black/dp/B0031ESKJA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1294713183&sr=1-1

So, pci or usb wireless adapter? Is there any difference in performance?

PCI had faster datastream/bandwidth than USB 2.0

PCI 1.0 = 133 MegaBYTES per second.

USB 2.0 = 480 MegaBITS per second = 60 MegaBYTES per second.

@snowboard817 I guess, if you consider 221% "not much".

I'll recommend the hub. There isn't any warranty that the PCI slots for your motherboard can provide the current you need for the receiver. The hub could have it can be own external energy supply. Through utilising an external hub, you will not be adding load to your energy supply, either. This can be important you probably have a high-vigour video card (or may get one sooner or later).

honestly you would want to be plugged in with a cat5.. Most gaming pcs actually come with 2 ethernet ports to offer the best performance.

But I would use a pci slot over a usb because that is straight to the motherboard..

As for actual performance it may not differ much, but its easier to pull out the cord ona usb than it is pci
