mic and windows vista? ?

yeah my mic will not work with vista, i have a toshiba satellite a135-s4447, i cannot find any update on audio drivers for them, ive updated on all the newest realtek drivers i could find, and whnever i talk into my mic, computer doesnt recognize me, yes ive checked in settings to make sure im not muted, but is there something i could be missing, please help me i really would like for the mic i bought to work
