You mean when you delete is decreases? Anyway try to use disc clean up, it should be in the control panel. What it does it deletes temp files, empties recycling bin, deletes unnecessary caches. If you haven't used it before it could take some time to clean up. Also any programs that you have and never use uninstall them. Delete pictures and music you no longer want. That should clear some space for you. Also run a virus scan

1. Select unnecessary old music, video files and delete.

2. Add remove programs , select unnecessary programs and uninstall.

3. Run disk cleanup. Programs>Accessories>System tools>Disc cleanup.

4. Defrag.

5. If you still want some more space, Reduce the 'system restore' space. windows restoration files are space hogs. Control Panel>System>System Restore> Select C drive and move the slider to left and click ok.

6. Buy an add-on hard disk.

ok, from one Vista consumer to a various, right this is your project. each time the gadget shuts down incorrectly, or has a memory sell off, a software that may not run, or one that crashes, that's logging this techniques right into a report that's meant to circulate to microsoft, in case you enable it to be sent. In vista, this temp report is rather lots endless. circulate to my pc, suited click on the diskcontinual and carry out a disk cleanup. you would be shocked (as i replaced into) on the dimensions of the data that is bumped off. After six months of rather lots consistent use with a lot of enhancements ensuing in config errors that crashed my gadget, I had upwards of 20 gigs of log data. attempt this out, then run your anti-virus and all that stable ****. additionally, confirm your not basically getting updates from domicile windows, vista provider %. merely got here out at seven hundred some meg, so as that could desire to be a huge bite too. do a seek for track and flicks, confirm there are not copies of any of them, and delete those which you do discover. maximum people who use Itunes do not comprehend that consolidating your track library makes a replica of each track, image and video report this technique can discover to put in the itunes library, effecively doubling the amout of area used for that media. stable success!

What OS?

You can turn off the Restore option in your windows (if it is XP), so it wont save information for restore points.

Also, I would recommend to use a shareware called "SequoiaView" (look it up in google). It displays your hard disk status graphically. Very useful.

There are certain virus that literally "eat" your free space by creating a mass of empty folders.

Update your antivirus , and run a complete scan

You got a memory leak. You either got to get a knew hard drive or CP. If it is like 5 years old just get a new one its not worth it.
