My current computer

Intel® Core™2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00 GHZ (Not overclocked)
4GB RAM
9800 GT
Windows Vista Home premium 32Bit (and Windows 7 when it eventually gets released :P)

Their is no way in hell my parents will buy me another computer so trying to upgrade it.

I can afford the 285GTX but not sure how much a performance boost it would give compared to the 9800gt for games such as WoW on Max settings.

So should i buy 260GTX , 280 GTX or 285 GTX

Thank you

Assuming that the 9800GTX gives 100% performance, this is what the others would give

260- 130%- $250+

280- 155%- $300+

285- 162%- $350+

THe deal is with the 285 GTX is that it uses a smaller core giving you much greater energy efficiency, I use the BFG GTX285 OCX edition, which is the best GTX285.

have you tried playing wow on the 9800 gt on max.. i think that card could do the job.. upgrading to a gtx 285 or even 260 is just a waste of money.. if your planing to play other hardware demanding games like crysis and gta 4.. get a gtx 285.. if not.. and you really just want to upgrade.. just get another 9800.. run them on sli.. and you'll have more than what you need..

properly in case you are able to prefer to spend approximately $one hundred eighty for a competent investment I recommend an ATI 4850 as this is the final deal on the industry. additionally interior the destiny while that one starts to get previous you are able to pop a 2d one in there and you would be working an entire power lower back. This card might desire to function FSX on the utmost factor conveniently and an Uber powerful game like Crysis at medium-severe conveniently too! savour :) Oh and by using how! Nvidia is a competent corporation however the effective factor approximately ATI is that that when you purchase there stuff it extremely is extra decrease priced on the grounds which you're no longer procuring the call, like Nvidia.

I mean, you should already be able to run WoW on max settings. The only thing that would slow you down with that setup is either RAM (due to Vista) or server lag. Seriously.

I wouldn't waste the money just to play WoW. For better games, sure. But not for WoW.

Err... sorry, I just looked at the prices, and the GTX 285 is the best price/performance value.

1) You better make sure your PSU can support on of those cards.

2) If you can afford a 285GTX obviously that is the best choice.
