Drives missing from My Computer?

The F. G. & H. drives are missing from My Computer. These are all (I guess you would call them) external ports.... One is a SD card reader that's built into the pc that I've used many times to load pictures, then one day I booted up my pc, and all the drives were missing! Nothing happens when I put my SD card in the slot.

Their not exactly USB ports, the SD card reader (which was drive H) is built directly into the tower. There's a few other slots, but I have no use for them.

Please help, I have pictures I need to take off my card and put on my pc! Oh, and I have Windows Vista too

Try the following. Although it's not "exactly" a USB port, it will be connected to a USB header internally

Go into device manager (Right click My Computer, select PROPERTIES, HARDWARE, DEVICE MANAGER)

Scroll down to the Universal Serial Bus tree, click the + at left to expand the tree

RIGHT CLICK any idem that is either a USB CONTROLLER or USB ROOT HUB and select DELETE (it only removes a reference the files to use it are still on the system)

NOW reboot the PC and let windows do it's "found new hardware" thing for a few minutes.

Reboot again and try a USB device. This usually fixes unresponsive USB systems.

Hope that helps . . . Good luck.

If not, time to callmanufacturer support for more "specific" advice, COULD be the card reader failed

The driver for the card reader ports isn't loading up when you boot up. The solution could be as simple as restarting your computer or as bad a reloading the driver.

good Luck

it seems that ur system is not detecting the media card reader. click on start > start search > and type in devmgmt.msc > it will open device manager, look for ur memory card under disk drives, in case if u see yellow question or exckamation marks, that means drivers are missing ! write back and let me know if u see the media card listed in device manager.
