I wouldn't use USB storage as paging file, it's too slow. Find out what ram you have (likely to be 667mhz or 800mhz DDR2) & buy some more of that. Don't exceed 3.5gb if you are on 32 bit Vista as it will not be available, you need 64 bit for anything more than 3.5gb. Disable programs starting up & check your task manager for tasks that do not need to be open, this is the easiest way to get some memory free (aside from installing XP).

I am not aware of any way to use an sd card as additional memory. However, you can use a USB flash/jump/thumb drive to enhance the memory. It does not actually add the USB memory to the RAM memory, but what it does is to move the swap file that the memory uses to the USB device, as usually those devices (since they are actually RAM memory) are much faster than a swap file on the hard drive.

Insert the stick, on then right click on its icon/listing in "My Computer" and select Properties. You will see a ReadyBoost tab where you can tell the computer to use the USB device as additional memory.

However, this is NOT as fast as increasing the actual memory within the laptop would be.

no ram/random access memory/ is different to memory as in an sd stick.try going to crucial.com and running thier in house program for the ram you need.they are usually cheap. ram is used by the lappy to do things faster and is cleared after use where your sd stick is used to store data.

Memory is not that expensive. No, an SD card will not do the same thing.
