For my computer organization and assembly language class, our professor said we all need to do our assignments on a Windows 32-bit system. My laptop is a 64-bit system. She said that we could download a DOS emulator if we had a 64-bit system that would allow us to correctly complete assignments, but I can't seem to find any such thing online. Does anyone know what I could download/what I could do? Thanks :)

Presently, VirtualBox runs on Windows, Linux, Macintosh, and Solaris hosts and supports a large number of guest operating systems including but not limited to Windows (NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7), DOS/Windows 3.x, Linux (2.4 and 2.6), Solaris and OpenSolaris, OS/2, and OpenBSD.

or

OSBox is a DOS-emulator that uses the SDL-library which makes DOSBox very easy to port to different platforms. DOSBox has already been ported to many different platforms, such as Windows, BeOS, Linux, MacOS X...

DOSBox also emulates CPU:286/386 realmode/protected mode, Directory FileSystem/XMS/EMS, Tandy/Hercules/CGA/EGA/VGA/VESA graphics, a SoundBlaster/Gravis Ultra Sound card for excellent sound compatibility with older games...

You can "re-live" the good old days with the help of DOSBox, it can run plenty of the old classics that don't run on your new computer!

DOSBox is totally free of charge and OpenSource.

The problem with education to day is the people teaching it are stuck in a time warp they don't keep up with the latest technology. I suppose the collage your attending is the same with it's technology still 32 bit systems. that's why everything as to be converted to 32 bit for those that have 64 bit systems.

Tell your dimwit professor to get in the real world of Information Technology and look up Free open source operating systems and education software. you do the same It will save you thousands of dollars
