Hello. I'm using ATi Radeon HD 5450 graphic card, and I need to update my drivers. But, some of my friends have pretty bad experiences with driver installation - e.g, someone didn't remove old drivers, someone didn't cleaned up registry, etc, etc.

And I hope it isn't a problem to give download link.
I know the "theory" - delete old drivers, install new ones. But, I would be very grateful if someone could give me instructions, just to be sure I'll do everything right. My operating system is Windows 7 64 bit. Thank you in advance :)

That should do it. Just download the pack, or the driver if you don't want the new catalyst software (which is optional) and it should just install over the old one. If that doesn't work then yes, delete the old one and install this one.

Depends on your computer company. Just go to the site, put in your laptop info and look for the driver.

Or go to Windows Update on your program list. It MIGHT show up on there.
