You cannot combine both the graphics.

Let me clear your doubt, what your friends laptop is literally doing is not combining two graphics, it just uses only one graphics at a time.

i.e. for watching HD videos and for light video stuff it uses onboard graphics say HD graphics but when he switch on the game, his onboard graphics is switched off and nvidia graphics is switched on.

This thing can be done to your pc also, but for that you should have nvidia old drivers say 216 version bcoz during that time only nvidia used this stuff to save power. i.e. switching to integrated intel HD graphics whenever there is no need for heavy graphical output.

hi jeswin

sorry mate, thats not possible .... the only technology that allows that is AMD,s apu based systems, and then theres very few laptops that support it

however people with intel based laptops cant combine the on-cpu intergrated graphics with the GeForce 210 graphics as theres no technology in place to do this, allthough some laptops have specific buttons which allow the end user to switch from the low powered intel HD graphics to the dedicated GeForce graphics ...this allows the user to save on battery power and only switch to GeForce dedicated graphics when gaming

this is the problem with laptops ... many guys buy them expecting to run most games, however unless they have a high powered GTX760M or better gpu then your out of luck, and most laptops with these powerful gpu,s tend to be very expensive ( such as alienware and rock ) and these can cost over £2000 !

that said there are a few things that can let you get the best out of your existing graphics, especially the GeForce 210 and these are

1) update the drivers ... go to http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-uk and using the drop down menu,s loctate the driver for your GeForce 210

2) download and update the direct X runtime files ... go to http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=35 and download the latest direct x ( you must be connected to the web to run this )

3) when running games set all video options to low and resolution to 1024x768... then slowly increase each video setting ( eg shadow, texture ) a bit at a time ... and monitor the ingame performance using a program called"fraps"( http://www.fraps.com/ ) which will show your frames per second (fps) in the corner of the screen .... don't settle for anything below 20fps as this will result in lag/stutter that makes games unplayable !

4) replacing your existing hard drive with a ssd(solid state drive ) will significantly improve the speed of your laptop.... you can buy a 60gb ssd for around £55 and this would be enough to install windows on it and then 2 of your favourite games .... running games from a ssd will result in much better loading times and in some cases better performance

5) upgrading your system memory(ram) can also improve the speed of windows and your games ... if your currently using 4gb of ram then going to 8gb will show a decent improvement ..

I hope this helps jeswin ... any questions let me know

good luck mate and happy xmas !

I've never heard of a laptop with two graphic chipsets, but assuming it's true, yours would have to have the same already. It's not something you can add later. Either you have it or you don't. The only user upgradable hardware in a laptop is the memory and the hard drive.

Best way to get two(dual) graphics is buy an AMD most recent processor and an AMD graphic card.then you will have dual graphics(by applying on catalyst driver).

No your friend pc is showing Nvidia video memory only .some more mb or gb is taken from ram depending on pc specs.

the fact is this, basically mobos come with a on board graphics memory that allocated by ram size, but when we put a new graphics card in to your motherboard, your integrated graphics will be disabled and your new card will take the place of graphics part. by mounting a separate card, u jst disabled the onbrd graphics, and you cant use it unless u remove the separate one. :) cheeerrzz
