I recently received my new hard drive in the mail and put it into my dell computer (inspiron E1505). I have the windows vista install cd and I put that into my CD/DVD external drive and connected it by usb. How to I get my computer to boot from this external drive? I have already tried changing the bios to booting from usb and booting from CD/DVD. I get the message "no bootable devices" no matter what I try. Have I missed a step for installing vista? Please help!

ok go to set up when ur computer turns on i don't know what yours will be it could be delete or one of the f keys next go to the boot section hit enter then u should see 2 to 4 option on how the computer will boot u want to change the first option to the cd drive that u are using then just hit f10 to save and exit it should load the os this way if u cant figure out which cd drive is which unplug the broken one and try it that way

Do you already have an OS installed on this laptop?

Because if you do, just boot that OS and put in the Vista CD.

It's not working now, I think, because the CD/DVD drive isn't 'installed' in the BIOS. I could be wrong, but I think that's it.

Dont installation any drivers, and positioned microsofts activation telephone style on velocity dial, each and every time alot of substantial technique upload-ons commerce you are going to have have been given to reactivate, its not extremely useful. seem into linux stay cd's. homestead windows purely isn't that versatile
