I just reformatted my computer and installing all these updates will take up too much space on my hard drive.. is it worth it? or are there specific updates that I should install w/o install all of them?

Its up to you really. Go into my computer, windows updates and click on "notify me only for IMPORTANT updates. this will only install important windows updates to protect vulnerability rather than installing huge programs, etc

If you use the internet which you obviously do then yes it is necessary to install Windows Updates as 99% of the updates are security based that stop potential threats from gaining control of your computer and stealing personal information or spreading viruses. If your computer has slowed down try downloading a few programs that look for spyware/ad-aware etc etc, do a virus scan and try defragmenting your hard drive, theres lots of reasons why a computer may be running slow and a quick search on Yahoo ;-) or any other search engine *cough* Google *cough* will help you find ways to speed your computer up.

Access the Windows Update site through your browser, and install the High Priority updates.
And start thinking of a larger hard disk.

You should read through each one, and decide whether you need them or not. Yes it is alot, but if you really care what you put on your PC you will do it. Not just take Microsucks word for it. Just read a few of them, you will see you do not need them all.
