Question:
power consumption, graphics card?

My pc configuration is:

amd athlon 64 3000+(am2)
asus m2npv-mx motherboard
seagate 120gb sata hard disk
sony AW-G170A dvd writer
2gb ram(512 x 4) ddr2 667mhz.
Can any one please tell what is the approximate power consumption by each component( if I am leaving any component please suggest with power consumption) ?

Regarding graphics card:

Now I am totally relying on integrated nvidia 6150(128 mb shared with ram) graphics card for playing games. I am not a serious gamer but I play at max 1024 x 768 res.
I am thinking to buy xfx 8500gt 256 mb(~Rs/-3000 or 70$).
Is it a worth buying, how much performance increase I can get with this for playing games( is it 50% or 100% or more).
Is there a better buy at this price ?
Please don't suggest me a card for higher price because I can't .
Thank you in advance.

- If you got an Orleans single-core AMD64 CPU (which is the only single-core AMD64s for Socket AM2 I know of), it draws just 45 watts maximum.

- An HDD draws a maximum of 20W during seek operations.

- An ODD draws a maximum of 20W when spinning.

- Motherboard + RAM another 60 watts.

So your system configuration with the on-board graphics draws a paltry maximum of 145 watts.

The 8500GT has a maximum power draw of just 40 watts.

A 300W PSU is already way more than plenty of power for your system.

The 8500GT should be a significant upgrade to your weak integrated graphics card. Its power draw is a bit less than 30 watts. It won't stress most power supplies.

There's no point getting the powerful and expensive cards. Their high power draw require a bigger PSU. Those very fast cards would just be bottlenecked by your current processor.

well power consumption or rather power input of each component is 12 v ..you dont need to worry about you ..nvidia geforce 8500gt is a good choice for that amount of money ..but if you want some intense graphics go for 8800gt its near about rs 13k..and remember 1 thing these graphics cards need external power and you will be getting power connecter free in the sales package..

Integrated graphics chips on motherboard blow chunks. The card you suggested will run circles around those integrated chips. http://www.newegg.com is a good site to investigate price. Be sure to deactivate your on-board graphics chips before installing your graphics card. Also look at your motherboard to see whether it has a PCI-E or AGP graphics port before you decide which graphics card you buy.

relies upon on your equipment bus, is it AGP, PCI show? in basic terms as a extensive-unfold assertion, i'd say no longer plenty you're able to do with that 220W grant. persist with the backside end video card in case you are able to.... plenty relies upon on what CPU, ram, disk drives, and so on. you have in that device...
