Question:
How do I figure out what graphics card will fit into a certain mother board?
?

Ok, so all of this computer stuff baffles me but I have seemed to be getting better with it. I'm almost certain this mother board:

And this CPU:

fit with each other. Correct? Tell me if I'm wrong or if I did good, I'm not looking to buy those products, I'm just trying to get a better understanding at what will fit and what not.

I understand the CPU and the MB. If this mother board and the CPU have the same 'CPU Socket Type' then it will fit, I think, right?

Well, I saw the chipset for the mother board:
Chipsets
North Bridge
AMD 990FX
South Bridge
AMD SB950

And was wondering if this Video Card will fit into the mother board because it has the same chip set manufacturer:

Tell me if I'm wrong on both, or right on 1, or right on both.

I do need an understanding on what parts will fit with what mother boards. Please help!

PS - I'm looking to buy parts to make my own computer, those aren't the parts I want, they're just examples on to see if I was right about if they fit or not. Just need a understanding on what parts fit or not! Thanks :)

Yes, all of those parts will fit together fine. For future reference, the "socket type" on the motherboard and the CPU have to match for them to fit, and as you can see they are both AM3+, as for the graphics card, any graphics card made in the last 10 years will fit pretty much any motherboard made in the last 10 years. I can vouch that that motherboard is an absolute monster and is amazing (I use a lower-end 990fx board and my friend has the sabertooth) and the graphics card is pretty good as well (I use a 7870 the next tier up).

Yes, they would work just fine. You want to look at socket type on both the motherboard and the cpu. If they match, eg. (i5-3570k is an LGA 1155 socket, so you would need an LGA 1155 board) then they should work fine, After that you would look into chipset types, but that goes farther into the process! Have fun on your computer building adventures :D And as long as the Motherboard has a 16x slot, then almost all gpu's will fit!

The GPU that you are looking at will fit on the motherboard that you have chosen. But that GPU is a PCIe X16 3.0 and your motherboard's chip set only supports X16 2.0 That means you would be wasting the GPUs high end 3.0 video processing capabilities.

By the way, that's a very good mobo. It's specs make my old Gigabyt board look like a canoe in a speed boat race, and I can play any game I want.

There are NO specific compatibility issues between the motherboard and the graphics card. As long as the motherboard has an available PCI-e slot, any card should work.

The only limitations are power supply and processor.

Any graphics card should work fine if you have a big enough power supply for it, with all necessary card power connectors.

The processor is good enough not to bottleneck any modern card, so no issues there either.
