I bought a new headphone microphone set. Firstly it didn't wanna work at all, there are 2 leads, one green (headphones) and one pink. When I plugged the pink one into the pink socket on the front of my pc it didn't work at all, then I plugged it into the blue socket and the PC recognised the mic. But when I tried to talk on skype, it said it could not hear me, like the mic was muted.

I've been into the speaker settings and the mic setting is not muted and is up full.

It's HP and Windows Vista.

Any body who can help, please do. It would be a great help

First, you need to make sure that you have the headphone jacks plugged into the proper "holes" on your sound card. Play a song on your computer and make sure you get your headphones working properly by plugging in the jack. Then, once you get the headphones working, do the same with the Mic. Second, make sure that you dont have a mute button or volume knob on the wire for your headset. They are pretty common.

no longer familiar with Vista, attempt going to regulate panel and checking your Mic settings and/or packing packing containers you could click to unmute. additionally, in the journey that your mic has an On/Off change, verify it rather is on!
